Digital Applique
I was determined to take advantage of all the opportunities available to me through the university, and try all the equipment available, I had not previously worked with the Adobe design packages, but was excited by the potential, I worked on a Card Project with the 2nd Year BA students and then continued to experiment once this was completed, from this experimentation came the break through I had been looking for, something I was excited about, that was new and distinctive.
Drawing
The emphasis on drawing, forced me (yes forced me) to try multiple new techniques and media along the way, among them, water colour, oils, acrylics, fabric media, lino print, dye painting, pencil, pastel, felt pen, ink, graphics tablets, and sewing machines, not to mention studying the work of other artists, and multitudinous books on the subject. I found this useful and now enjoy these media for fun, but use watercolour felt-pen and pencil to begin the digital applique process.
Display
While on the MA I have had many opportunities to consider ways of displaying items, and realize the importance it has in contextualizing the work. I am working on the clutter, honest.
